2007-07-02 - panOULU summer competition raised interest

The panOULU summer competition, organised by City of Oulu COMPETENCE Oulu 400 programme and panOULU consortium, was participated by 1 371 people on the week after midsummer's day. The competition was a part of a campaign designed to make panOULU network better known during this summer. Campaign's goal is to help citizens of Oulu and visitors alike to find the network and to utilise it.

A Nokia N95 wlan phone, donated by Elisa Plc. was raffled with the participants of the competition. The lucky winner is Jarkko Lysti from Oulu.

Summer competition

panOULU network is a free and open wireless citizen's network consisting of about 800 access points. In May 2007 over 7 800 different devices used the network, and accumulating from the start of this year almost 20 000 users have used the network. panOULU is the largest open citizen's network in Finland.
