2008-10-31 - Oulu opens up a free MobileWiMAX network

City of Oulu in co-operation with companies and public organizations is building a wireless broadband network based on MobileWiMAX technology to Oulu region. The new network expands the current wireless technology development and testing platform consisting of panOULU and Octopus Networks to a unique ensemble even in the global scale. At the same time the Internet connection already provided by the free and open panOULU network will be offered to citizens and visitors in a larger scale in selected places and service points.
